Prom party

For my friend Erin’s 30th birthday, we decided early on that we wanted to throw her a fun shindig. There are four of us that have been friends since high school, and Erin has been so great with all of our bridal showers and baby showers. We wanted to return the favor!

We quickly decided that a prom theme would be super fun. I went to the mall a couple of months after prom season and snagged two prom dresses for Erin to choose from. We also had a tiara, sash, cake, present, and a fantastic plan laid out. We were ready to go!

Erin’s sister had set up the day so that Erin thought she was going to a barbeque with her. We picked up her sister and headed over. She was definitely surprised!

We packed her up in my car and headed to Dallas. First stop: makeup. We all got ours done…it was a fun time. I always love a little primping.

We scooted next door to get a blowout for Erin. It was quick, mainly because she cut off 11 inches! Loving her new sassy ‘do.

Now that she was sassed up, we headed over to our hotel for the evening. We stayed at NYLO – it was a modern industrial hotel and was super cool. Once we settled in the room, Erin tried on her dresses and picked all of our favorite – the seafoam green one with flowers. We applied our corsages and were ready to hit the town.

First stop: Spaghetti Warehouse. We picked it since the West End was the hot jamz when we were in high school. Things have…gone downhill, a bit, there. But it was still so fun – super kitchy and silly but perfect for the prom princesses. One of the waiters was so confused – he said “wait…you’re going to prom? And you’re drinking?” Glad we can still pass for high schoolers. =)

After dinner we hit up Dee Lincolns, a champagne bar. It was a little too…Dallas for our taste. We were the only women whose legs and chests were covered…I’ll say that much.

We cut out after a drink and headed over to The Grapevine. It was definitely much more our scene and he hung out there for a while before heading back to the hotel for the night.

It was so fun and we were so happy we could put together the night for our great friend. The prom theme was a fantastic success and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun theme!
