Gingerbread turkeys

While at brunch with friends yesterday, one friend mentioned that Trader Joe’s had gingerbread turkeys for $8. Intrigued, I stopped by and bought two for the girls to assemble and decorate after naps.

Turns out it was a super fun activity! I had to be majorly involved in things like the icing, particularly when it came to assembly, but the girls loved decorating the turkeys. It came with some nonpareilles but they were making a mess and not really sticking to the icing, so we used some stars instead.

I would assemble a piece and then make some icing circles for the girls to apply the candy. They were fairly patient while I worked on the turkeys.

The girls were VERY pleased with their creations, as was I. It took about an hour and a half from start to finish so it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

They have prominence on our mantel.11-14-16-turkey-7
